Silicone also has excellent compression set and good release characteristics. It has extreme low and high temperature resistance, and is usually the material of choice in all food grade applications. Available in Hardness range 40-80° Shore A in all colours. Heat range 205°C Continuous, 300°C Intermittent. Low temp resistance of -60°C.
Not recommended for applications where concentrated solvents, oils, and acids are present. Also has high gas permeability, and is relatively higher cost than other synthetic polymers such as EPDM and Nitrile.
