Single Effect Climbing Film Evaporator

Single effect, climbing film evaporators are simple evaporators which can be used under vacuum at lower temperatures. The single effect evaporator is designed as a forced circulation evaporator. Designs are available in a wide range of capacities – from 0.1 m2 heat transfer area to 10 m2. In terms of water evaporation capacity, the capacity ranges from 10 kg to 1000 kg water evaporation per hour.
Wide variation in the configuration is possible. The evaporator can be operated as natural circulation evaporator, if the viscosities involved are not very high. Positive displacement pumps like lobe or gear pumps could be provided for product recirculation when high viscosities are involved. Surface condenser or semi barometric condenser can be provided as required. Suitable condensate receivers can be provided whenever surface condensers are used. Condensers can be horizontal or vertical and with countercurrent or co current cooling arrangement. Dry or wet vacuum pump is provided depending upon the vacuum to be maintained. Dry vacuum pumps help creation of very low pressures resulting in low product temperatures, which may be required for certain heat sensitive products.
A wide range of materials of construction, including different grades of SS and MS for some components, depending on the requirement of the customer is possible. Extent of instrumentation can also vary. Simple indicating instrumentation with manual operation of the plant or fully automatic operation plants are available. Multiple effect evaporators with different feed strategies are also available.
