SMALL PLANETARY GEAR DRIVES

At Allied Sinterings, Inc., we can manufacture and assemble small planetary gear drives used in a variety of applications from power tools to medical devices. Gears up to 1.5" in diameter can be produced with diametral pitches up to 120 and meet AGMA Class 8 tolerances. Compacting processes range in force from 0.5 to 50 tons and can be used to create gears in a variety of materials and strengths. Material options include stainless steel, nickel steel, copper steel, and brass alloys. Powdered metal is very versatile and can be customized to provide desired material properties.
While powdered metal manufacturing offers many advantages to traditional fabrication and machining methods, there are constraints to the geometries that can be achieved. We can train designers and engineers at customer facilities on the proper way to design using powdered metal manufacturing guidelines. In addition, our engineers can assist customers in converting current gearing to powdered metal.
Finishing options include machining, resin or oil impregnation, heat treating, and tumbling. Powdered metal manufacturing provides a near net finish and often doesn't require any additional machining. If additional machining is necessary, most processes used on traditionally machined components can be applied to powdered metal parts.
