Contact SupplierA smoke detector is a device that detects smoke, typically as an indicator of fire. Commercial, industrial, and mass residential devices issue a signal to a fire alarm system, while household detectors, known as smoke alarms, generally issue a local audible and/or visual alarm from the detector itself.
Types of Smoke Detectors
1. Photo electronic ones are better at detecting smoldering fires, which create lots of smoke, but little actual fire at first. They’re your best bet for most places.
2. Ionization detectors work best for rapidly spreading fires in combustible materials, where there are lots of flames, but little smoke. If you’re going to have one in your kitchen, go with an ionization model.
