It is soluble in water and alcohol and the water solution is liquid sodium cyanide. Usually liquid sodium cyanide is pale yellow or brown-red liquid. During storing, it will hydrolyze, easily react with acid and release ammonia gas, becoming toxic. Its solution may react with iron, nickle, copper, silver, zinc and cobalt and produce relative salt.
