SHMP is one kind of metaphosphate polymer, other names as sodium polymetaphosphate, multi-sodium metaphosphate, Sodium hexametaphosphate vitreous and ”Graham salt”. Its appearance is colorless solid or white powder. Its solubility is bigger in water with slow speeding, solution is acid. Its complex compound with divalent metal ions is more stable than with monovalent metallic ionic. It easily decompose into normal phosphoric salt in water, acid and alkaline. SHMP has a stronger hygroscopicity and will be ropy after absorbing moisture.

Application
1. SHMP reacts with metal ions into soluble complex compounds and soften water. It also forms precipitation in Pb,Ag ions solution, this precipitation will dissolve in plus SHMP solution and finally transform to complex compounds. It is used as efficient soften agent in the power station, locomotive and boiler water. It is a kind of detergent builder, is anti-corrosion agentia and is abluent in fiber and bleaching and dyeing industry. It can promote the hardening of cement and purify streptomycin. In oil line, to prevent drilling pipe rust and adjust the mud viscosity when drilling.
2. In medicine line, it is used as calmative and as preservatives, stabilizer, juice precipitant in food industries.
3. It also is important in fiber dyeing, tanning, printing, film, soil analyzing, radio chemistry and analytical chemistry, etc.
