A regional specialty from Solapur, Kala Masala is a dark, aromatic spice blend made by roasting ingredients like coconut, sesame, cloves, cinnamon, and more until deeply fragrant. It’s used primarily in Maharashtrian meat dishes and select vegetable preparations. The unique blackish hue and intense flavor distinguish it from regular garam masala. Our Solapuri Kala Masala is hand-roasted and stone-ground in small batches to retain its traditional essence and long shelf life.
