There are two type of Solar Water Heater is available in Kerala which are:- "Flat Plate Collector" (FPC) and "Evacuated Tube Collectors" (ETC). Flat Plate Collector by using copper tubes which is long lasting and this is a common type solar water heater and it is the most suitable type for Kerala's climatic condition and get 80°C hot water with the help of normal sunlight. Evacuated Tube Collectors (ETC) which are made up of rows of parallel, transparent glass tubes. The disadvantage of ETC model are, we get only very low temperature, that is heat up 40 ± 5°C, water leakage through glass sealing, chance of brakeage of tubes when it is exposed to sunlight, chance to catch fungus inside the tube and consequently lower the heat of water. During rainy season, must use electrical heater. The 3rd one coming shortly in market is known as "Concentrating Collector" (CC) type. We arrange MNRE ( ministry of natural renewable energy ) Central government subsidies for ETC and FPC model solar water heaters.
