While their rigid design certainly makes them suitable for hand tapping operations, the straight flute configuration is also ideal for CNC tapping. Advantages: Can be used in blind holes & also in through holes. Chips are pushed upwards due to spiral flute - Chip clogging is avoided. Full thread depth can be achieved and thus the design prevents tap breakage
