Each film-coated Spithro-500 Tablet (Azithromycin 500 mg Tablets) contains Azithromycin (dehydrate) equivalent to 500 mg Azithromycin (anhydrous). Spithro-500 Tablets contain Azithromycin as a Macrolide Antibiotics use to prevent bacterial infection by interfering with their protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosomes, and thus inhibits translation of mRNA. Azithromycin tablets can be applied for the treatment of the following infections, when caused by microorganisms sensitive to Azithromycin :

• Acute bacterial sinusitis (adequately diagnosed)
• Acute bacterial otitis media (adequately diagnosed)
• Pharyngitis, tonsillitis
• Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (adequately diagnosed)
• Mild to moderately severe community acquired pneumonia
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Uncomplicated Chlamydia trachomatis urethritis and cervicitis
