Stabiliser Assy is assembled to the shell, 125mm HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank Shell ) using a lead gasket. The stabilizer body is made of forged steel and machined , consisting of more than 25 nos spare parts. Fins are made of steel. Six Fins are equally spaced and riveted at the base of the body of stabilizer . Six Fins are held together by two semi rings in folded position.

| The shell functions on hollow charge principle. On firing, due to set back force, the lock of semi ring straightens and it slips to the rear most position, thus freeing the fins. However, all the six fins are held in folded position by the barrel wall till it leaves the muzzle. After leaving the muzzle, all the six fins spread open, turning through 90 degrees and are retained in that position by the counter air force. On impact, the base fuze detonates and the detonation wave initiates the shell firing. |
