Contact SupplierStandard Sand For Cement Test
The Standard Sand used for testing cement in India is specified under IS 650:1991, titled “Specification for Standard Sand for Testing of Cement”.This standard outlines the requirements for sand employed in evaluating the quality of cement, particularly in determining its compressive and tensile strengths.Fraction II: Particles passing through a 1 mm IS sieve and retained on a 500 micron IS sieve.
Fraction III: Particles passing through a 500 micron IS sieve and retained on a 90 micron IS sieve.
Grain Shape: The grains should be angular with a shape approximating that of a sphere.
Sphericity: The grains should be rounded to sub-angular to ensure consistent flow and packing characteristics.
Loss on Ignition: When treated with hydrochloric acid, the loss on ignition should not exceed 0.25% by mass.
Marking: Each package must be clearly labeled with the following information:
Name of the manufacturer
Batch number
Date of manufacture
Net weight
Statement indicating conformity to IS 650:1991Compressive Strength Test: Evaluates the ability of cement to withstand axial loads.
Tensile Strength Test: Measures the resistance of cement to tension.
Consistency Test: Determines the water content required to achieve a standard consistency.
Setting Time Test: Assesses the time taken for cement to start and complete setting.
These tests are conducted following procedures outlined in IS 4031, which specifies methods for physical testing of hydraulic cement.
