B. Manufacture
Continuous Cast Steel billets.
Hydraulic cut / Flame Cut – Billet Ends to be cut perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and to de-burr
C. Surface Quality
Should be free from harmful surface defects like surface crack (longer than 20 mm & deeper than 0.5mm), slag patches, scabs, pinholes, deep oscillation marks (deeper than 0.6mm)
D. Internal Quality
Billets Should be free from injurious internal defects that are harmful for the end products or for the rolling.
E. Marking
Cast Number is to be punched / Stamped at the cut face of each billet. Each billet supplied shall be capable of identification of supplier name, cast number, grade.
F. Bend
Billet should be free from bend up to 400 mm length at both shear ends. For rest of length 30mm / 6 meter bend is acceptable.
G. Mill Test Certificate
MTC shall detail the full chemical analysis of each heat inclulding tramp elements, Nitrogen content & those required in the calculation of the CE. It shall state the carbon equivalent, billet size and length and method of manufacture
H. Packing List
Delivery documentation shall detail the number of billets in each heat supplied and the tonnage of each heat. If binding wire is used billet net weight and binding wire weight has to be specified.
I. Billets Grade
Should be identified with color code ; one grade should not possess more than one color code. Similar grade billet supplied in different length and size should be identified with different color codes or marks.
J. Packaging
(Invoicing on Actual weight of the billet excluding strapping)
K. Certificates and documents
Following supporting shall be accompanied with
