One unique application where we have found ourselves using these bits is to drill out JK knuckle steering arms. Instead of sourcing an expensive 78” bit to drill out the steering arm for our JSpec drag link flip installation, we use these step bits. The step bit won’t bind against the factory tapered hole and doesn’t require multiple bit changes to progressively enlarge the hole. The stepped design also makes it very easy to keep the bit square to the hole as well as not allow it to wander and risk an ob-round hole.
