Contact SupplierStethoscopes are medical instruments used by healthcare professionals to listen to internal sounds of a patient’s body, such as heartbeats, lung sounds, and bowel movements. They’re an essential tool for diagnosing and monitoring various health conditions.
A stethoscope typically consists of three main parts:
Chest piece: This is the part that is placed on the patient's body. It can have one or two sides:
Diaphragm: A flat, round side that listens to high-pitched sounds (like normal heartbeats or lung sounds).
Bell: A smaller, concave side used for lower-pitched sounds (like murmurs or certain abnormal heart sounds).
Tubing: Flexible tubes connect the chest piece to the earpieces. The tubing transmits the sounds from the chest piece to the listener.
Earpieces: These are placed in the healthcare provider's ears, allowing them to hear the sounds transmitted through the tubing.
There are also variations of stethoscopes tailored to specific purposes, such as digital stethoscopes (which amplify sounds or provide visual displays) or specialized pediatric stethoscopes (designed for use with children).
