SUNETRON   Parenteral artesunate should be used for the treatment of severe falciparum malaria only where there is evidence that the antimalarial efficacy of quinine is declining.  The powder for injection is difficult to dissolve and care should be taken to ensure that it is completely dissolved before parenteral administration. Artesunate acts by increasing the production of free radicals within the body of parasite which destroys their body functions thereby killing them.
