Also known as SMPS, Switching Mode Power Supply or simply Switched Mode Power Supply, is an electronic power supply that incorporates a switching regulator in order to be highly efficient. Like other types of power supplies, Switched Mode Power Supply transfers power from a source such as the electrical power grid to a load (e.g., a personal computer) while converting voltage and current characteristics.
