Tacrolimus USP (Monohydrate) is a white to off-white, crystalline powder API used as a potent immunosuppressant. It is a macrolide lactam, insoluble in water, but soluble in acetone, chloroform, and ethyl acetate. Primarily used in organ transplantation, it functions by binding to FKBP-12 to inhibit T-lymphocyte signal transduction.
