Â
Applications of Talc:
1.Plastic Industry:Â The plastic industry comsumes high quality ultrafine talc in polypropylene, polyamides, cable pvc and other plastic compounds. It is excellent filler due to blending characteristics and thermal electric resistant.
2.Paint Industry:Â Talc is used in production of decorative paints, industrial coatings, pigment pastes, primars, enamels, putties and other products.
3.Ceramic Industry:Â Talc is used mostly as low cost filler in ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, dinnerware and electric insulating.
4.Pharmaceutical Industry:Â Talc is used as filler in Tablets, ointments and dusting.
5.Paper Industry: The paper industry is the largest consumes of Talc and generally uses 300 mesh [53μ] with the range of brightness varying between 80% to 96%.
Â
#Stages of Paper making using Talc:
Stage1: As a filler to give smoothness, porosity and capacity to paper in addition to reducing the cost.
Stage2: To control pitch and stikies: During the paper making process, also resinous droplets muro or colloidal in nature to get added to the stream. This muro impurities can clog to the paper machinery. Talc being hydropholic absorbs these muro droplets or if the droplets are big then talc lamellae stick to their surface thus controlling their stickiness.
Stage3: In coating formulations because of its platyness and high brightness, talc leads to reduction in usage of expensive whitening and helps in controlling glors of the coat.
