Teniposide is in a class of medications known as podophyllotoxin derivatives. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells in your body.

This medicine is used with other chemotherapy drugs to treat acute lymphocytic leukemia in children that has not improved or that has worsened after treatment with other medications. 

Teniposide comes as a solution (liquid) to be injected over at least 30 to 60 minutes intravenously by a doctor or nurse in a medical facility. Your doctor will tell you how often you will receive teniposide. The schedule depends on how your body responds to the medication.
