Test Bench For Valvetrain Dynamics

Via a Polytech laser vibrometer, our test bench for valvetrain dynamics records the valve lift course and its deviations, the resulting valve speeds and closing speeds. In addition, we examine the valve spring contact forces and the (roller) rocker arm forces. Naturally, for us as valve spring suppliers, the tensions within the valve spring are of the utmost importance. These tensions are recorded with strain gauges (DMS). Evaluation of the signals is performed on a state of the art data acquisition and analysis system. From the sum of all results, we can deduce whether the selected valve spring design fulfills the specified requirements at all engine-relevant speeds. In addition, for further support, we supply our customers with high-speed recordings, e.g. to examine valve spring vibration behavior or valve rotation.
