These threaded fittings provide permanent welded connections which are useful for critical applications. Threaded joint is the oldest method of joining piping systems. Like Socket weld fittings, threaded fittings that are mainly used for small pipe diameters (Small Bore Piping); generally in piping whose nominal
diameter is NPS 2 or may be smaller. The dimensional standards for taper pipe threads are given in ASME B1.20.1. That document gives all required dimensions including number of threads per inch, normal engagement, pitch diameter lengths for all pipe diameters.

•  Threaded piping is mostly used in low-cost, noncritical applications such as fire protection, industrial cooling water systems, domestic water etc.
• Threaded fittings are mainly made of cast brass or bronze, cast gray or malleable iron, or forged alloy as well as carbon steel.
• They are also available in three pressure ratings: 6000lbs, 2000lbs, 3000lbs.

 NPT Thread: 
All fittings are provided mostly with NPT thread, ASME B1.20.1. The American National Pipe Thread Tapered, is well known and most widely used connection where the pipe threads provides both the mechanical joint and the hydraulic seal. NPT has a tapered male as well as female thread that seals with Teflon tape or jointing compound. Dimensions with Sealant Compound and also of American Taper Pipe Thread.
