Titanium Tetrachloride

The by-product from this reaction is Iron Sulphate which is then crystallised and filtered off. Only the Titanium Salt remains in the Digestion Solution. This Titanium Salt is called Synthetic Rutile. Synthetic Rutile is further processed to obtain Titanium Dioxide. Synthetic Rutile is prepared specifically for the extraction of Titanium Dioxide. Titanium Dioxide can also be produced through Nanotechnology by Solvothermal Synthesis. The Becher process can also be used to produce Synthetic Rutile from Ilmenite. Crude Titanium Dioxide that occurs as Synthetic Rutile is purified through a Chloride process by converting it into Titanium Tetrachloride.
