Trichloroacetic acid has been used to precipitate slrp (soluble circulating low density lipoprotein receptor associated protein-1) isolated from plasma. It has been used to extract ascorbic acid from plant samples. It is also used to prepare ascorbic acid standard for ascorbic acid determination. It has been used for phosphoprotein precipitation in IMAC (solid phase metal ion affinity chromatography) separation. Traditionally used to precipitate proteins. Used to determine protein concentration by quantitative precipitation. Used as decalcifying agent and fixative for microscope samples.
