Trogal is one of the secondary bile acids, which are metabolic byproducts of intestinal bacteria containing the generic medicine ursodeoxycholic acid. It is used for the treatment of cholestatic liver diseases, gallstone dissolution, and for patients with hepatitis c virus infection to improve elevated alanine aminotransferase levels. Ursodesoxycolic acid tablets are available in 150 / 300 mg doses.
Trogal (ursodesoxycolic acid tablets) helps in the regulation of cholesterol by suppressing hepatic synthesis and secretion of cholesterol and inhibiting intestinal absorption of cholesterol. It is also known as ursodiol. It is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gi tract. Accidental overdosing with trogal (ursodesoxycolic acid tablets) has not been reported. It is contraindicated in pregnancy, lactation and in geriatrics.
Recommended dose: 2 tablets of ursodesoxycolic acid tablets 150 mg is to be taken twice daily.
