The alloys are made by liquid-phase sintering to give a structure consisting of almost pure tungsten particles in a matrix of the alloy elements. In addition, the product is less prone to chipping and breakage with good extensibility, has high melting point, wide working temperature range. When other metals start to melt while tungsten alloy keeps its properties.

typical applications of tungsten alloy bar apart from boring bars, include weights and counterbalances for aircraft control surfaces and rotor blades, guidance platforms, counterbalances for flywheels, turbines and engine crankshafts, vibration reducing governors, filaments and fuse masses, ingredient kinds of heat-resistant steel and electrode, mainly used to artillery, rockets, satellite, airplane and ship. Other applications include radiation shielding, gyro rotors, weapons including armor piercing applications, and high temperature tooling.
