Tynept OD Tablet, Composition : TIANEPTINE SODIUM (ER)

Tynept Tablet is a dibenzoxazepine antidepressant. It is used to treat depression. It also helps to enhance and brighten up the mood and is considered effective in treating depression that is unresponsive to alternative treatment.
It increases serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT) uptake in the brain (in contrast with most antidepressant agents) and reduces stress-induced atrophy of neuronal dendrites.
The acceptability and safety profiles of tianeptine are appreciated by both physicians and patients; for instance, tianeptine does not induce sexual dysfunction, nausea, or weight gain.
Tianeptine showed no evidence of impairment on any performance test as compared to the placebo, and did not affect the daytime alertness/ drowsiness level or nocturnal sleep. Amitriptyline, however, produced considerable impairment of performance, associated with severe daytime sleepiness.
