Ultem Insulator

This ultem insulator is used within an aerospace application.
Severna is a full-service machine shop experienced in working with a wide variety of plastic materials. When asked to create an Ultem® insulator for the aerospace industry, Severna had the materials, the tools, and the in-house design capabilities to provide the custom plastic fabricating services that the client needed. Using our CNC Swiss machining know-how, we made the piece in just a single step. Using natural-clear Ultem®1000, which has excellent thermal properties, the finished part measured .500" long, with a diameter ranging from .050" down to .043". We removed any burrs by hand and with cryogenic methods.
