Contact SupplierUltra-high Power Density Battery
Need high power in a volume constrained space? See how we solved the challenge.
A major OEM had a goal of developing a disposable consumer product incorporating a small, ultra-high power density battery. The battery targets included supporting very high burst of power events (~2.5Watts) hundreds of times at high operating voltage in a smaller than AAAA (LR61) cylindrical form factor. The OEM had spent considerable time evaluating and experimenting with lithium-polymer technology. Those battery solutions suffered from several drawbacks:
Battery shelf life was too short, meaning that their product would have to be charged by the consumer prior to use, thereby dramatically affecting the user experience,
Power solution was expensive; the battery cost was high, and in addition they had to add costly safety electronics, further increasing device cost.
Lithium-polymer human and environmental safety was a significant concern for the OEM related to the risk of sudden battery ignition or violent disassembly.
