Contact SupplierThe apparatus has been developed on the basis of the design of British Building Research Station by L.F. Cooling and H.Q. Golder. It is a simple and portable apparatus and is used in both laboratory and field for testing unconfined compressive strength of undisturbed specimen of cohesive non-fissured soils taken from a borehole, a trail pit on open excavtion. A specimen of 38 mm dia by 76 mm long is placed in between two platens and the load is applied by means of a hand operated lead screw which expands a calibrated spring. The load deformation curve is plotted autographically by a recording pencil moving across the chart. Strength figures can be determined from the completed chart by supper imposing a specially calibrated transparent mask over the chart.
Specification :Â Consists of :- Load frame, spring loading with a pair of flat platens and arrangement for autographic recording of load deformation characteristics.
