Olericulture has become an important industry in many parts of the world. However India has yet cash in on the production, marketing and export potential in this field. The role of vegetables as a major source of micro and macronutrients in being recognized in balanced nutrition. Vegetables are important part of healthy eating and provide a source of many nutrients, minerals and vitamins like tomatoes, broccoli, cucurbit crops, spinach, and garlic provide additional benefits, making them a super food. Although India is the second largest producer of vegetable in the world, there is need for further increase in the production to overcome the present inadequate availability and to keep pace with the ever-rising domestic demands.
