Onion seeds which are referred to as “black seeds” are the seeds derived from the plant “Nigella Sativa” which is found primarily in the Mediterranean, African, Asian countries. Nigella sativa grows to 20–30 cm tall, with finely divided, linear (but not thread-like) leaves. Though primarily used in cooking, onion seeds are considered to be very useful in curing a number of ailments mainly due to the component Nigellone which gives it the curative properties and several other minerals and vitamins.
