It has the smell of earth and its action depends on its concentration and the oil in which it is mixed. The Indian poets relate this woody aroma to the first monsoon rains on the earth. The oil is very thick but thins out when added to other oils or alcohol.
USES
Vetiver Absolute/ Ruhkhus (Green) Oil is popularly used as a fixative and a fragrance ingredient in making soaps, cosmetics and perfumes. It is also used as a moth repellent. It is used in creams and lotion for the care of skin. As a cosmetic, it can also be used directly as a cleanser and moisturizer for rejuvenating the skin. It is widely used in gyms and beauty parlors.
It is used in India to perfume incense sticks that are used in performing pujas. Besides the oil the Vetiver root has been used for its fragrance to scent fabric, and woven into baskets, mats, and window coverings
