Data from a network can be available in real time. It has have facility to transmit data via GSM and GPRS network to ensure data transfer in real time without any delay in case of network congestion. The DTU can automatically send message containing packet data to the server at configured time interval. Two way communications is possible in DTU. In case failure in data transmission, the DTU can switch over to BURSTY MODE to transmit the data as per the request from the server. The packet data from the DTU can be transmitted in ASCII format to the server. It supports both UDP and TCP protocols along with HTTP as well. Download over the Air (DOTA) can be done to avoid travelling to site for configuring the DTU. The DOTA is enabled in all DTU and it can be done either via SMS or over FTP.
