Functional Uses: Anticaking agent, Fortification for functional foods and beverages such as cereals, baked goods, flour, dry food mixes, candies and other confectionaries. Used in chewing gums as dusting agent. Toothpaste as an abrasive. Mineral in pet foods.
General properties :

• Appearance - Fine, White, odourless microcrystalline powder. It is stable in air.
• Identifications - It gives positive reaction for Calcium and Carbonate
• Solubility - Insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble diluted acid
• pH=4.5-5.2 (1% w/v soln)
• Loss on drying/Aqua - 2% Max.
• Heavy metals=Max. 0.001%
• Magnesium and Alkali salt - Not more than 1.0%
• Assay - Not less than 99% after drying
