Wire Drawing Powder

Drawing powder is used as the lubricating materials in the drawing process. Its main component is lime, water, animal oil, wax, soap, stearic acid, talc, and alkali. It can form a lubricating film between the drawn wire and the wire drawing die to reduce the friction and the force energy consumption; prevent the drawn wire bond to the wire drawing die because the temperature is higher in the drawing process, to reduce energy consumption and temperature during drawing, to extend the service life of the drawing die and ensure the product surface quality, and make uniform deformation; also it can prevent some features of steel wire after drawing, such as: residual lubricating film thickness, easy to clean, anti-rust, and other medium binding capacity, leading welding capabilities. The dry drawing lubricants are usually called lubricating powder, drawing powder, there are two kinds: Sodium soap and lime soap. Sodium soap is derived from fatty acids and alkali saponification reaction, calcium soap only by the fatty acids (fats) and white ash derived saponification.
