X-ray computed tomography has been used widely in the field of materials characterization. Intensive studies have been carried out focusing on the mechanical characterization and damage detection, which have been summarized in a number of reviews ,The application of this technique ranges from simple three dimensional visualization of various physical attributes to intensive computer simulations and image processing. The basic principle of X-ray tomography is based on the fact that an X-ray beam passing through matter is attenuated and the degree of attenuation is dependent on material's absorptivity.
