The Yarn Tension Meter is a precision instrument designed to measure the tension of yarns, filaments or fibres in textile processes (knitting, weaving, winding, texturising, etc). It provides accurate, real‐time tension readings which help ensure consistent feed forces, reduce breaks, avoid over‐tensioning, and maintain fabric or yarn quality. Typical units are portable, battery or mains powered, and incorporate strain gauge or roller measurement mechanisms to capture dynamic tension values. For example, certain models feature automatic zeroing, peak/average value capture, and digital displays for ease of use. High accuracy tension measurement – Accuracy often around ± 1-2% of full scale.
Automatic zero calibration / tare – Ensures measurement starts from proper baseline.
Digital display (LCD or TFT) – Clear readout of tension, sometimes with bargraph or graph view.
Multi-unit display (N, kgf, gf, lbf) – Useful when switching between measurement units.
Compact sensor head / small roller design – Especially for applications in tight spaces (e.g., over moving yarns in machines).
