Zinc is the 4th most widely used metal after iron, aluminum, and copper. It is a chemical element with symbol Zn and atomic number 30, it has a melting point of 419.5 °C and the boiling point of 907 °C. Zinc (Zn) is sought as calamine (calamine lotion) also known among mineralogists as hemimorphite : Zn4(OH)2Si2O7.H2O. The most common occurrence is as sulphide: sphalerite (ZnS) and carbonate-smithsonite (ZnCO3). There are at least 52 other zinc bearing minerals.
