.Calcined bauxite is a major industrial raw material heated to high temperatures (1600-1800C). Its primary use is in the production of refractory materials, which are heat-resistant materials for furnace linings. It is also widely used inthe anti-skid roads , ceramics , and cement industries.
Major uses of calcined bauxite:
Refractory Industry: This is its most prominent use. Due to its high alumina content, it is essential for making high-quality fire bricks and molds for furnaces used in the iron, steel, glass, and cement industries.
Road Safety (Anti-skid): Due to its high abrasion resistance, calcined bauxite is used as an 'anti-skid' or anti-skid surface on roads, tunnels and bridges.
Ceramics & Moulding: It is used to increase the strength of ceramic products and to make precision casting moulds for metal casting.
