Pre- Melted Calcium Aluminates or Pre- Melted Synthetic Slag

Pre Melt Synthetic Slag is best known for its high capacity to absorb acidic impurities for example arsenic and antimony while presenting a wide, homogeneous liquid area when mixed with iron oxides. Pre Melt Synthetic Slag is used as deoxidizer, desulfuration, dephosphorization in steelmaking. Common chemical requirements include AlO, CaO, and MgO content, with maximum limits for impurities like SiO, FeO, and S. Key Specification Components

Chemical Composition:

Main Components: Typically based on calcium aluminates (CaO-AlO) with varying percentages of AlO and CaO to suit specific applications.

Impurities: Strict limits are set for undesirable elements like SiO, FeO, and Sulfur (S).

Example Ranges:

AlO: 41-45%

CaO: 34-38%

MgO: 6-8%

SiO: 5% max

Castable Cement, often called "
LowCement Castable", is used in high-temperature and harsh industrial environments (such as furnaces, boilers, and cement plant linings) because it has a lower cement content (5-7%), making it stronger, more durable, and more heat-resistant than conventional cement, especially suitable for high-temperature applications (such as foundries, petrochemicals) where it does not break down and has a longer service life. 
Uses of Castable Cement:
  • Furnaces & Kilns: For making inner lining of furnaces of steel, cement and glass industries, where there is extreme heat.
  • Boilers & Chimneys: For lining high temperature boilers and chimneys.
  • Petrochemical Industry: For lining high-temperature equipment in refineries and petrochemical plants.
  • Cement Industry: In cement-making furnaces and other hot areas.
  • Foundry: For the molds and furnace interiors used for metal casting. 
Why is it used?
  • High Heat Resistance: It can withstand very high temperatures, which normal cement cannot.
  • Better Strength: Despite containing less cement, it has better mid-term and late-stage strength than conventional castables.
  • Less Shrinkage: Due to less cement, there is less shrinkage, which prevents cracks.
  • Durability: It lasts for a long time under harsh conditions. 
In short, wherever there is a lot of heat and wear and tear, castable cement (especially with less cement) is an excellent choice, keeping equipment safe and functional.
