Following are some of the technical specifications of our Quinine Sulphate.
Long before the action of the drug itself was understood, quinine was used for the treatment of fever. Not until the 17th century was quinine used for the treatment of malaria. This is the condition most associated with its use although, due to its antimicrobial, antibiotic, anti-pyretic and antiseptic properties, quinine has been used for multiple medical and non-medical purposes.

Quinine Sulphate: Applications

  • Medical Uses
Although quinine is most known for treatment of malaria, due to its muscle relaxant properties it has also been used to treat leg cramps, facial palsy and muscle cramps associated with early onset of kidney failure.

  • Non-Medical uses
In addition to medical uses of quinine there are several non-medical applications including use in preparations for treatment of sunburn and in liquors, bitters and tonics. Perhaps it is best known for its use in tonic water and other beverages. It is the cause of the bitter taste in tonic water. In fact, gin and tonic was thought to have been a preventative for the onset of malarial symptoms.

Rhodamine

Rhodamine is a bright fluorescent red dye originally developed for water tracing applications. Rhodamine has subsequently been used in coloring automotive coolants (anti-freeze) and in inks.
As a water tracing dye, Rhodamine has the ability to stain organic materials from plants, silt and dirt. With a state of the art fluorometer, detection of the dye is 10 ppt (parts per trillion) in ideal conditions and at 0.1 ppb (parts per billion) in polluted waters. It can also be detectable by the naked eye at higher concentrations.
Rhodamine is a synthetic red to pink dye having brilliant fluorescent qualities with molecular formula C29H29N2O5ClNa2 and CAS Number: 37299-86-8. It is also known as Acid Red #388. Further, It is often used as a tracer within water to determine the rate and direction of flow and transport. Rhodamine dyes fluoresce and can thus be measured easily and inexpensively with instruments called fluorometers. Rhodamine dyes are soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol.

Applications

  • Biological Application
In biological studies, rhodamine, was used to evaluate the bovine brain microvessel endothelial cell monolayers(fig1). Moreover, rhodamine is widely used to quantify P-glycoprotein (P-GP) functional efflux activity in vitro. And determination of human IgG by solid substrate room temperature phosphorescence immunoassay based on an antibody labeled with nanoparticles containing Rhodamine luminescent molecules.

  • Medicinal Application
Rhodamine has another application. For example, the determination of rhodamine by sequential injection technique for pharmacokinetic studies in the rat placenta, the sequential injection (SIA) technique was applied in pharmacokinetic studies of the transporter-mediated passage of a model substrate, rhodamine, through the dually perfused rat term placenta.
