Greater Flexibility. less leakage :
Multi-Lon is flexible and moldable, conforms to stuffing box configurations because it lacks stiffness — eliminates the leak paths of stiffer packings — reduces the need for frequent adjustments — requires only minimal gland torque — finger tight leakage control reduces power consumption and sleeve wear .a breakthrough in packing fiber.
Long Wearing. fewer repackings :
Exclusive Chesterton PTFE pre-treatment of separate fibers followed by a sacrificial lubricant after inter braiding, protects packing and sleeve at break-in, prolongs service life.
Non-Staining. protects product quality :
Graphite-free Multi-Lon will withstand liquors, hypochlorites and other process chemicals — no silicone to stain paper products Multi-Lon is non-contaminating, non-hazardous under normal conditions of use.
Non-Hardening. fewer adjustments :
In abrasive and corrosive services, Multi-Lon remains pliable without the hardening to which asbestos/PTFE types are subject.
Non-Abrasive. less sleeve wear :
Multi-Lon has the tensile strength of aramid types to resist extrusion but has a lower coefficient of friction with less heat generated, less wear on shaft sleeves. It also retains a greater percent of its tensile strength at running temperatures.
Non-Pitting. saves shafts :
Multi-Lon has the chemical resistance of carbon or graphite Fiber types, but does not have its electrolytic pitting problem.

PACKAGING :
DIRECTIONS :
Valve Stems : Remove old packing. Clean off loose material from stem. Unwind Chesterton 3500 and cut just long enough tor a particular application. Wrap 3500 around the stem to ll stutng box. Tighten down the follower nut. it nut or packing gland bottoms out, back the nut off, add another wrap of 3500 and retighten. Not recommended in valves if the pressure in the equipment exceeds 35 kg/cm2.
Flange Faces : Remove old gasket. Clean off any gasket residues on the ange face. Using a single strand ot 3500, form a loop around the surface to be sealed. Wrap around each bolt, overlapping the ends. Recommended tor applications up to 35kg/cm2. Chesterton 3500 Valvelon can be used with steam, salt water, air, retrigerants, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, chromic acid, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, kerosene, gasoline, perchloroethylene, hydrogen, ammonia, uorinated solvents, chlorine, propane, butane, nitrogen and generally all substances within a pH range of 0 to 14. Do not use with liquid or gaseous oxygen, molten alkali metals and some rare halogenated compounds.
DESCRIPTION :
Chesterton 3500 Valvelon is a dense, pure PTFE sealant that can be used as a non-hardening valve packing or ange gasket. The unique construction of the product allows it to squeeze in all directions to till voids and conform to surfaces when installed in a valve or flange. It will not extrude under pressures of up to 35 kg/cm2 due to its multi-layered structure. Chesterton 3500 Valvelon is ready to use as received. Simply unwind and cutjust enough for a particular application. Users can reduce expensive gasket and packing inventories by stocking this one convenient product. Because it contains no surface lubricants or chemical fillers, the product has an unlimited shelf lite. The product can withstand a wide range ot temperatures and be utilized with virtually all chemicals, generally all substances within a pH range of U to 14. It is non-hardening in service, and will remain permanently pliable.
