General Guidelines for Tensioning of V-Belt

• Ideal tension is the lowest tension at which the belt will not slip under peak load conditions
• Over tensioning shortens belt and bearing life
• Keep belts free from foreign material which may cause slip
• Adjust tension when slipping. Never apply belt dressing as this will damage the belt and cause early failure

Storage of V-Belts

• Belts should not be stored for long period in dampness or direct sunlight
• Belts should not be left floor in close coils but kept on racks
