Dextrin is partially hydrolyzed starch, modified by heating in a dry state , with mineral acids as a catalyst under controlled conditions to achieve the desired level of cold water solubility and color Dextrins differ from starches in their reduced viscosity and appreciable cold water solubility. Adhesives :Dextrins have essential characteristics in coating, binding and adhesive applications for better tack. Their low viscosities allow their use at high concentrations, which result the films with faster tack. Because of this property Dextrins are used in seam gums for envelopes, bottle labeling adhesives, Remoistening gummed tape, postage stamps, card board boxes etc.
Textiles :Dextrins form a film and act as sheath for fiber. Thus protecting it from abrasion. White Dextrins are used in Textile finishing in order to impart stiffness to certain types of interlining fabrics. The soft pulp paste of Dextrin acts as the best thickening agent for every type of textile, paper printing, and certain plastic printing using all types of colors and dyestuffs. The gritless and non-abrasive print paste ensures long life of printing copper rolls which cannot be achieved by using gum and other adhesives.
Food and Pharmaceutical industry :White dextrin is a carbohydrate Nutrient sources in the preparation of certain antibiotics by fermentation. It is also used in biscuit industry to enhance the shelf life and crispiness. It can be used as an active ingredient as a food flavour.
Other industrial Applications :Foundry ( as a core binder to give better green strength, dry tensile strength ). Fire works, Dye stuff and printing, glass fiber industry, insecticides, briquettes paint and distemper etc.

Preparation : UniSol B 160 is slurried in cold water till free of lumps at desired solids. The slurry can be cooked either by direct steam injection or in jacketed cooker, along with agitation to 95°C for about 20 Minutes. When using a continuous jet cooker the starch slurry is heated to 100 to 105°C

High Maltose Corn Syrup is defined as purified concentrated viscous liquid of nutritive saccharides obtained from starch having Maltose % more than 35. It is manufactured as a concentrated viscous liquid by limited dual enzymatic hydrolysis of starch till desired Maltose content.
Food :Maltose syrup is hydrogenated to produce the low calorie sweetener Maltitol. High Maltose syrup are used as shelf life improves for starchy foods and as microbial growth inhibitors, inhibitors of sucrose crystallization, color stabilizers, absorbents of oils and fats, sweetness reducers, and food processing improves for use in brewing, baking, soft drinks, confectionery, and other food and beverage applications.
Fermentation :High Maltose Syrup is readily fermentable sugar and hence used in light beer production for low calorie content.

IntroductionDextrose Syrup is a sugar usually obtained by the hydrolysis of starch. Dextrose Syrup [Liquid Dextrose are puried and concentrated, nutritive carbohydrate syrup with sweet in taste. Dextrose Corn Syrup is low ash, dematerialized corn syrup with a high dextrose content. These syrups comprise minimum dextrose content of 92 to 94 % [On dry substance basis). It is sweet, easy to ferment and often used as sugar substitute. It is ideal for applications requiring high fermentability and sweetness.

Application : UniCat S 25 can be used to increase the retention of fillers and finers and to improve sheet strength properties at a low cost. It can be used at a level of 2-10 kg per ton of pulp. UniCat S 25 can be used for emulsification of AKD/ASA under high agitation. Typical solids of UniCat S 25 are in between 2-6% .

Preparation :
For preparing paste, UniCat S 25 is slurried in cold water till free of lumps at 3-6% solids.The slurry is heated to 95°C and maintained at that temperature with mild agitation for 30 minutes. After cooking, the paste is diluted to 1% solids before adding to stock or may be added directly to the stock. The point of addition is commonly at the intake side of the fan pump or as close as possible to the head box of the paper machine.
