Z&L Machining Inc. was approached by a Tennessee-based company to custom manufacture hardened steel pins specifically designed for a heavy construction equipment application. To fill this order, we used a detailed and exacting five step process that took advantage of our state-of-the-art equipment including a Kasto saw, Hey centering machine, Mazak CNC lathe and mill and a Cincinnati twin grip centerless grinder. Each of the 57.3 kg pins was made using hot rolled 4140 heat-treated steel within tightest tolerances of +0"-.0014".o guarantee the highest quality product, we went through extensive testing and inspection process that included the use of a micrometer, calipers, gage pins, hardness tester and profilometer.
