EazVac Shelf Dryers

To solve the above problems, vacuum dryers are used where the boiling point of the materials to be dried is brought down and the entire system is in a closed loop. No contamination occurs, due to the closed arrangement. Any vapours evolved during the drying process is cooled down through a connected Heat Exchanger and collected in a reciever
The EazVac Shelf Dryer when combined with a solvent extraction system, ensures that almost all of the evaporating vapours is recovered and condensed in to a reciever which is vacuumised.
Working principle
The EazVac Shelf Dryer is basically a tray dryer working under vacuum conditions. It dries on the conduction principle. There are a number of shelves inside the dryer on which the product laden trays are placed. The top most shelf is a dummy shelf to ensure proper heating and to block dried powder from escaping into the solvent extraction system.
The shelves are manufactured in hollow construction with baffles cum stiffeners placed in between. Each shelf has an inlet and outlet nozzle. Each shelf is connected through these nozzles to an Inlet and Outlet Header. Hot media is passed through the Inlet Header and in turn to each shelf. The hot media flows through the shelves in a serpentine fashion ensuring faster heat transfer to the surface, which in turn heats up the Trays placed on the shelves. The hot media flows out from the shelves through the Outlet Header.
The Inlet and Outlet Headers are designed such that the flow of the heating media is equally distributed into the each of the shelves.
The Dryer chamber is constructed from heavy thickness plates to ensure that there is no buckling during the vacuum operation. Additional limpet coils are provided to further stiffen the body and also to pass the hot media. The chamber is provided with a heavy door with a adequate locking arrangement.
The Dryer Chamber is connected through a vapour column to a Shell & Tube type Heat Exchanger, which in turn is connected to a Condenstate Reciever. Vacuum is applied to the condensate reciver. Vapour evolved during the drying process is collected in the receiveR after it is cooled in the Heat Exchanger.
The vapour to be cooled is passed thru the tube side of the Heat Exchanger. While cooling water is passed thru the shell side. A cooling coil is present in the condensate reciever, to further cool any vapours entering the reciever before it is goes into the vacuum pump.
The Condensate Reciever is connected to a Vacuum Trap, to ensure that any uncooled vapours arising from the reciever is trapped and allowing very minimal contents of the vapour to pass into the Vacuum Pump.

V - Cone Vacuum Mixer Dryer

First the screw lifts the product from the bottom to the top of the vessel and then the movement of the arm makes the product to move across the cones periphery. Combining these effects with gravity produces excellent mixing effect.

Technical Details of the RotoCone Vacuum Dryer (RCVD) :

High Vacuum is applied through a receiver further connected to a condenser and a cyclone separator. The cyclone separator ensures that any fine products which does not get entangled in the internal filter is separated and only the vapour laden air is passed through into the condenser. The Condenser condenses the vapour passing through. The receiver collects the condensate, which is generally expensive, and environment harmful solvents.

As the RCVD is generally operated under high vacuum conditions, the above solvent separation arrangement ensures that no harmful or corrosive solvents enters the High Vacuum Dry Screw Pump.

An insulation cladding with mineral wool or PUF is provided around the jacket to stop heat dissipation. In GMP models the entire insulation cover is of welded SS sheets and polished to a neat finish.

The equipment is rotated with the help of a girth gear connected to a suitable speed reducing gearbox and motor. Operating speeds are further controlled through an Electronic Variable Frequency Drive placed in a control panel. The control panel houses other controls like the start stop of the main motor, process timer to stop at set period, temperature indicator controller for controlling precise temperatures in the RCVD, digital vacuum indicator, harmonic filters and emergency stop. An additional man safety guard is provided besides the RCVD to ensure that the equipment does not start until it is fixed into place. All standard electrical safety guards like overload protection, single phase preventer, ELCBS, MCCBs are standard parts of the Control Panel.

The internal product contact surfaces are generally polished to 240 grit mirror finish. All weld joints are ground smooth to ensure that there is no product built up. It is very important to ensure that the internal surface is absolutely smooth as the RCVD has got no mechanical scraping devices and the product to be dried may get stuck on the surface and due to heating from the jacket, may get charred.

The RCVD electrical & electronic parts like motors, control panels, sensors, solenoid valves and other instrumentation are of Flameproof Construction with certification from CMRI Dhanbad. Any parts specifically not available in FLP construction are housed in FLP Enclosures.

Working Principle
Air generated by the powerful blower is passed through a Fin tube radiator. The air which has now become hot is forced into the product container carries the product upward. This creates a very high fluidization effect, where each and every particle of the product comes into contact with the hot air. Due to this, heat transfer efficiency is increased and drying time is reduced considerably.

The conventional method of drying products in Tray Dryers is rather Time Consuming & troublesome. They occupy large floor space.

The product container shall have a Hollander weave mesh screen at the bottom. The container shall be mounted on a SS trolley with castor wheels which shall enable it to be moved around.
