The tooling we produce is primarily engraved into brass, aluminium, copper, magnesium or cast iron. Examples of our tooling include 3D embossing and de-bossing blocks, combination foil and embossing blocks, branding dies, mould cavity inserts, rotary cutting and hot stamp cylinders.
Brass Flat Blocks:
Brass is ideally suited because of its excellent machining ability and is an ideal substitute to copper, however owing to the manufacturing process, it is not always more cost effective. The primary advantage of brass is its ability to give a fantastic finish by holding incredibly fine detail.
3D Embossing Blocks:
3D embossing is the greatest advantage of CNC engraving in the printing industry. The ability to work on multiple levels enables CAD operators to breath life into flat images by making them literally jump out at you. In this competitive market, this technique is an incredibly valuable tool in the hands of a talented graphic designer.
Combination Foiling and embossing Blocks
This is a step up from the 3D embossing block as the ability to hot stamp foil at the same time is added to the tool. By foiling simultaneously we are able to eliminate one production process, which not only saves time but reduces costs. A further advantage is a cleaner final print by eliminating overall spoilage due to misregistration between the foiling and embossing processes. On-line code printers are designed for printing materials as they pass by on a conveyor line. The printers use the friction of the passing items to trigger printing. Messages up to 24 long can be quickly assembled with individual characters or logotypes (multi-character strips) for convenience. As the print wheel rotates, ink is applied to the printing dies with an ink roller for clear and even printing.
Indexing Models
Indexing printers use a spring mechanism that returns the print wheel to the same relative position after each mark is applied. These units are used in applications where the printed message must be placed in the same position on individual items. A small gap between each individual item being marked is required to allow the printer to operate properly.
Non-indexing Models
Non-indexing printers rotate freely on their bearings and will stop at random positions when they disengage from the product being marked. These units are often used for marking continuous web materials.

Steel roller dies are designed and manufactured to your specifications for continuous marking. They require less force than other indenting methods because only a fraction of the legend is indented at one time. They are suitable for indenting into metals, hard plastics, and other products.
For applications where your information does not change, an engraved roller die can be made with single or multiple lines of text. Commonly used for marking flat sheets, billets, tubular shapes, and round or hexagonal bar stock.
Vilax has the capability to manufacture custom stamps and dies to your specifications. Trademarks, company logos and other insignias may be duplicated in any size or shape. Dies can be furnished with holes, slots, tapers, flats or other features.
