The mica group of sheet silicate (phyllosilicate) minerals includes several closely related materials with nearly perfect basal cleavage. All these materials are monoclinic, with a tendency towards pseudohexagonal crystals; they are also similar in chemical composition.Mica is widely distributed and it occurs in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary regimes.
