Delinting is process of removal of short fiber from the cotton seeds before sent for oil extraction from cotton seeds. The process is perform in three stages:

  • Cotton seeds are passed through delinter machine; this removes substantial part of short cotton fiber.
  • Partially Delinted cotton seeds are then passed through brush delinter machine that generally comprises 6% short cotton from cotton seeds.
  • In the process of Delinting the output of 2nd cut cotton linter, staple length is 2 mm. to 5mm. Maximum.

Cotton Linters are very useful for paper board industry and thus wood pulp and other natural resources are saved. Cotton short fiber is even widely used for manufacturing different types of cotton clothes, carpets, curtains, etc. Today people prefer wearing dresses made from cotton. Therefore demand of cotton is high and even it is exported in different countries.
